Amsterdam is known for its ludicrous lifestyle and I can assure you that it definitely lives up to its reputation.
Amsterdam has always been somewhere that fascinates me greatly. Whenever I've heard stories of the city, I've had my doubts whether such a place truly exists or whether others are elaborating on their stories to make the city seem more eccentric and less normal. I was definitely wrong to have my doubts. There is nothing normal about Amsterdam.
My boyfriend and I decided to visit Amsterdam for our anniversary. As soon as we stepped foot in the large city, we knew that it was nothing like anywhere we've ever visited before. The roads are around 5 lanes long and whilst crossing, you must be aware of cars, cyclists, motorbikes, buses and trams who all have their own lanes. Getting to the other side of the road is a mission in itself! Once safely across the street, we were greeted by buskers and entertainers which give this vibrant city a London vibe.
Amsterdam can be explored for days with canals running through every part of the city as well as being home to hundreds of tucked away roads and alleys which all lead to different and interesting routes. The red light district is a must to visit as it truly is unique beyond words can explain. There are also some museums about the district which gives you more of an insight into the fascinating life of Amsterdam.
Whilst exploring Amsterdam, I knew that it was a must to visit the house of Anne Frank which has been turned into a museum for visitors to have an insight into the circumstances that she lived in. The whole experience is eyeopening and I would highly recommend this visit, even if history is not your thing. Everybody can learn something from Anne Frank.
Amsterdam's whole vibe is eccentric and there are so many diverse things to do. You can be in a sex museum in the morning and then taking a pedalo down the beautiful canal streams in the evening. Amsterdam, you will forever have a place in my heart.
