Rome Day Trip

Updated: Jan 3

On 14th December, we took a day trip to the beautiful city of Rome. Our intentions were to visit Christmas markets but instead we ended up becoming entranced in Rome's beauty and explored as much as we could, as well as taking a trip to Vatican City.

We took an early morning flight and arrived in Rome at 9:30am. From the airport, it was an easy bus and metro ride to the centre of Rome. From here, we visited Vatican City which you will be able to read all about in an upcoming blog post. Spoiler: Vatican City is a beautiful country🥰

After Vatican City, we took a walk to the colleseum and I was surprised with how breathtaking this architecture is. Seeing the colleseum with your own eyes is a completely different experience to seeing it in pictures or on TV. We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase tickets for the colleseum on the day, which I was very appreciative of, because I was desperate to get inside after being entranced by the outside architecture. Inside the colleseum was mesmerising and it was very surreal to think about what the colleseum was Once used for. Once we had finished admiring the surreal beauty of the colleseum, we headed to the centre of Rome to grab some food and drinks.

As this was only a day trip, we didn't have too long until we had to make our way back to the airport but I knew that I would regret not seeing the Trevi Fountain so we made this our final spot and it did not disappoint! After visiting the Trevi Fountain, we walked to the nearest station to make our way back to the airport before returning back to the UK at 10:30pm. From the airport, we took a train home and arrived back at our house at 12am. It was a looooong day but I loved every minute and I would highly recommend a trip to the stunning city of Rome, especially in December ❄️
