Activities to partake in whilst in Split.

Updated: Feb 17, 2019

Each year Croatia is becoming more of a tourist "hot spot" with people flooding to the beautiful country in the hopes of discovering new and fascinating adventures. Some people have even gone as far as to call Croatia the "new Ibiza". Allow me to explain what makes this country so spectacular.

Exploring beautiful Split

In Summer 2017 I was lucky enough to spend a week in the sunshine exploring the wonderful area of Split. Split is Croatia's second largest city and is home to some fascinating history including a 4th Century Palace which has been beautifully transformed into a large market space. You definitely have to see it to believe it!

There are many areas to see and explore in Split including a variety of different nature trails. We decided to take the Marjan Hill trail leading us to a beautiful lookout spot where we were greeted with an array of perfectly aligned, sand coloured roofs throughout the area of Split. The walk was astonishing in its own right, taking us past large forest areas as well as desolate houses in spotless conditions. Although hiking in 30 degree heat was a struggle, the view at the top is definitely worth the battle.

The next day's adventure was a lot more relaxing than hiking in the heat. We decided to visit Krka National Park which is home to some spectacular waterfalls. Everything about the park is magical and I would highly recommend exploring every inch of it as there are lots of surprises along the way! You can even swim within the same water as the waterfall. One of the things that impressed me most about Croatia, was how trusting the locals are due to living in an extremely safe country. Whilst swimming, every person would leave all their valuables at a large distance knowing that they live in an amazingly, trustworthy country. Croatia, you are just fabulous.

Croatia is also home to lots of popular, smaller islands such as Hvar, Korčula, Vis and many more. We decided to take a day to explore the small island of Korčula. This included an hour ferry ride which is always the start of a fun day ahead! Everything about Korčula is stunning and there are so many fantastic restaurants and areas to explore including a lot of historical museums.

If you are yet to visit Croatia, I would highly recommend making this country your next adventure. You will definitely not be disappointed.
