My Travel Year so far

As we reach the middle of July, I wanted to reminisce over my last 6 months of travel and all the incredible places that I have been. I can't quite believe that we are already in July, but it allows me the chance to look back and appreciate how incredible this year has been so far.

Sofia, Bulgaria

Near the beginning of the year, I took a trip to Bulgaria's capital, Sofia. This was a short 3 day trip to celebrate my birthday and I loved every second of it. We ended up finding the most incredible restaurants within Sofia, as well as enjoying a wine tour that is still one of my favourite travel experiences. From the friendly locals to the incredible hospitality, Sofia is not a place to be overlooked and I am so appreciative that I was able to witness the beauty of Sofia, in all of its glory. You can read my review of the incredible Bulgarian wine tour that we went on here.

Pisa, Italy

Italy is one of my favourite countries and I will never tire of the amazing food that can be devoured within this romantic country. Pisa has been on my list to travel to for a little while so I was very happy and appreciative to have been able to make that dream a reality in April. We took a 3 day trip to the city of Pisa over the Easter weekend and the vibrant atmosphere, alongside the incredible architecture, made this a trip to remember. We visited a local beach as well as exploring the incredible sites of Pisa (the Leaning tower is a MUST-see) and we made the most of our time in the Tuscany region by visiting the incredible, nearby city of Florence. You can read our full Pisa itinerary here.

Florence, Italy

Our 3 day trip to Pisa, included a day trip to Florence where we were able to explore all of the incredible sights and I could hardly believe how stunning the architecture within Florence was. We of course made the most of Florence's incredible shopping facilities, as well as ensuring to see all of the historic sights. Visiting Michelangelo square was a particular highlight for me because I loved the authenticity of the area and all the incredible statues that are proudly on display. I also thoroughly enjoyed walking around the main square and taking in all of the stunning architecture of the historic buildings. Florence is a must-visit for anybody who appreciates authentic and stunning historic sites. You can read more information about my day trip to the stunning city of Florence, here.

Dublin, Ireland

Dublin is always a good time, which made me eager to re-visit on a day trip. Plus, the fact that flight tickets were less than £20 for a return, it seemed like a no-brainer! From an early morning whiskey whilst listening to incredible LIVE music, to enjoying multiple Guinnesses in the Guinness Storehouse, we ensured to pack our day with some traditional Irish food and drink. In true British fashion, we ended our day with a trip to the pub, which just so happened to be the oldest pub in Dublin🍻. We of course left Dublin feeling exhausted but very content and well-fed! Berlin, Germany

Berlin is a historical wonder with so much to see and do within the incredible city. From the everlasting history of World War II, to the modern art scene, every step you take within this incredible city, you are sure to discover something amazing. A particular highlight for me was visiting the Eastside gallery and taking a walk through the extremely vibrant areas of Kreuzberg & Oranienstraße. I am a sucker for a good street food market so Markthalle Neun was also a highlight for me. I have never been so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of incredible and varied food on offer🌭🍛🍝.

Some of my favourite pictures from our Berlin trip, can be found here.

With six months of 2023 completed, I'm looking ahead to the rest of the year and some of my future travel plans. I am keen to plan an end of the year getaway somewhere but I am still undecided where I should go, so if you have any recommendations, please drop them in the comment section below🌍
