Beautiful Nyhavn - A historic fairytale.

Updated: Feb 17, 2019

Nyhavn is home to some of the most beautifully colourful architecture but what truly makes this town stand out, is the incredible history behind this small town.

Chances are if you've told people that you're visiting Copenhagen, one of the first responses that you're going to hear is "make sure that you visit Nyhavn".

The small town has made quite a name for itself on the map and rightly so. Not only is Nyhavn beautiful beyond words. (The array of multicoloured houses, bars and restaurants really must be seen with your own eyes). It is home to a very famous house; the house of Hans Christian Anderson. It is rumoured that Hans Christian Anderson wrote the majority of his fairytales inside some of the houses that are spread out along the river in Nyhavn. There is also a museum dedicated to his finest works and even just looking through the window is worth the visit!

Following Hans' success, the city of Copenhagen constructed a statue of the little mermaid, one of his first written books. This is now a proud feature amongst locals and I can guarantee as soon as you step foot in Nyhavn, the history and pride that the locals share is sure to impress you.
