2023 Christmas Market Inspiration

The festive period is my favourite time of year and I have been fortunate enough to visit some incredible Christmas markets all over Europe. Therefore, I wanted to share with you my top 3 Christmas markets to get you prepared for the festive season❄️

1.) Christkindlmarkt, Vienna

Vienna is home to some of the most incredible Christmas markets that I have ever visited! It was really hard to pick just one market in Vienna but after lots of deliberation, I'm happy to announce that Christkindlmarkt takes the top spot🥇

Christkindlmarkt is home to a large Ice rink that is sure to excite the whole family. It is also home to a large variety of delicious food stalls and stunning Christmas decorations that are guaranteed to help you get into the festive spirit🎄🎅

2.) Jul I Vinterland, Oslo

Similar to Vienna, there are multiple Christmas markets in Oslo with the main show stopper being Jul I Vinterland. Home to a talking mousse and some of the most delicious and extravagant Christmas delicacies that I have ever tasted, this Christmas market is not to be missed. If you're traveling in December then Oslo is guaranteed to be very cold, so I would strongly advise on layering up and preparing to drink lots of hot Gløgg to keep warm. During my time in Vinterland, I ate some of the best chestnuts that I have ever eaten and I am still craving them to this day! Overall, the prices in Vinterland were pretty reasonable for a Christmas market and there were lots of heated areas where you can relax and stay warm whilst enjoying your food and drink.

3.) Winter Wonderland, London

A visit to Winter Wonderland is a staple tradition for most people living in or just outside of London. Winter Wonderland is a magical Christmas market situated in Hyde Park and the large space is occupied by a huge variety of rides, stalls and activities. A personal highlight of mine is the ice Kingdom alongside the famous ice bar, serving delicious drinks in below freezing temperatures 🥶 My only negative of winter Wonderland is that it is particularly pricy, so I would advise putting aside a bit of money before planning a visit, to ensure that you can enjoy the day as much as possible and participate in fun activities such as a trip to the circus and a magical tour of the Ice Kingdom. Winter Wonderland is a guaranteed fun day out and can be enjoyed by everyone, whether you're visiting as a solo traveler, a couple or a family.
