The peak of Summer is fast approaching and deciding where to vacation is a tricky decision that requires lots of thought and planning. This is why I have put together a short list of my 2023 European holiday destination recommendations to ensure you have an amazing holiday in the sun.
Split, Croatia
Croatia is known for incredible, historic, medieval cities such as Dubrovnik, however my personal favourite area within this beautiful country, is the large coastal city of Split. Split is home to many wonders including wildlife, nature and the most stunning national parks. A particular highlight of my time in Split was the ability to island hop across beautiful and desolate islands. Split is also home to some of the best food that I have eaten! You definitely will not be short of things to do in this extraordinary city.
Madeira, Portugal
Madeira has made the list due to being one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited. Funchal is a vibrant city in Madeira, home to the golden statue of Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as stunning botanical gardens and exotic wildlife. For those that are eager to explore, there are lots of excursions that can be discovered a short distance from Funchal. From visits to banana plantations to a dip in the lava rock pools, you are sure to find something to please everybody in Madeira. One of the vocal points of Funchal is the toboggan ride from the top of the hill down to the a picturesque area that is sure to thrill the adventure seekers.
Greece
There are so many incredible islands in Greece that I cannot wait to explore! Greece is on the list because I have a holiday booked to Corfu in the Summer and I am SO excited!! I spent a lot of time researching the best Greek islands and let me tell you, it was not an easy task. Each of the Greek islands are magical in their own way and I cannot wait to add Corfu to my list of visited Greek islands. Below are some of my island recommendations:
Santorini - A picturesque paradise. You are sure to fill your insta feed with the most stunning pictures
Kefalonia - An affordable island full of night life and activities
Kos - A lively island with a vibrant nightlife
Corfu - the perfect mixture of relaxing and atmospheric
Montenegro
Montenegro is a treasure in itself and I can assure you that wherever you visit, you are sure to be mesmerised by the stunning scenery and generous locals. We stayed in a small fishing town on Montenegro's coast and explored some bigger towns that were not far from where we were staying. I would highly recommend Budva and Tivat as well as exploring some of the smaller towns along the bay of Kotor, such as Perast. I still to this day believe that Montenegro is the most beautiful country that I have visited and I genuinely believe that everybody should visit Montenegro to understand how truly stunning the country is.
Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is a fan-favourite within the country of Spain. Being home to Europe's largest football stadium is just one of Barcelona's many wonders. From delicious sangria to mouthwatering paella, Barcelona is a paradise for foodies! There are also lots of areas to explore around the main city, including the beautiful and picturesque mountain of Montserrat which is desperate to be explored. Whether you're a football fan, food connoisseur or adventurer, you won't be short of things to see and do in Barcelona.
