Exploring the second smallest country in the World

Monaco has the world's shortest coastline and a population of less than 40,000 people, making it the second smallest country in the world. Although, don't let the country's size fool you. Monaco may be small but there are many beautiful sites hidden within its' landmass with one of them being the home of the extremely popular Monaco Grand prix.

Travelling to Monaco may be considered difficult due to the country being too small to home an airport, however there are so many easy and accessible routes to Monaco by train, bus and even boat. I visited Monaco as a day trip during my holiday to Nice (France) and with the train journey being less than 30 minutes, travelling to Monaco couldn't have been any easier.

As soon as you step foot within this country, it becomes apparent that you are visiting one of the world's wealthiest countries. Every street you walk down is pristine, alongside some of the cleanest pavements that I have ever witnessed! A variety of bars and restaurants sit alongside the harbour and I would definitely recommend visiting the Oceanographic museum which you will soon be able to find a review of on this blog (it really is a must-visit when in Monaco). Whilst making your way to the Oceanographic museum, you will find yourself looking at the incredible sight of the Prince's Palace which is also a must-see when in Monaco. Although I warn you that it is quite a climb to make it to these two places so if transport is an option, I think it would definitely be worth it!

Monaco is also home to Monte Carlo casino which you may recognise from movies such as Ocean's Twelve and many of the James Bond films. The casino is truly spectacular and is surrounded by extremely impressive vehicles which are sure to be a talking point amongst all those that you travel with. The casino is also surrounded by the casino gardens which are an extraordinary sight to witness whilst taking in the beauty of this small country.

In my opinion, Monaco is definitely worth a visit and although the country is small, you will not be short for things to see and do whilst visiting. From the grand prix race track to the beautiful Grace gardens, there really is something for everyone in this little country.
